“À l'école du Val de Loire”
In 2020 and 2021, Mission Val de Loire and the federation of Maisons de Loire organised a week of educational activities for 8-12 year-olds (i.e. primary school and Year 7 classes - French CE2, CM1, CM2 and 6e). Around the construction of a cardboard scale model of a traditional Loire barge, this initiative aimed at improving understanding of what links people, the river and its landscapes.
20 classes for the 20th anniversary of the Loire Valley World Heritage site
The first edition was held from 16 to 20 November 2020. 20 classes and 473 Year 5/6 schoolchildren (CM1/CM2) spent a day out by the Loire. An opportunity to delve into the history of the river and its inhabitants through the example of Loire rivercraft. This initiative was organised with the Federation of Maisons de Loire and the cardboard model brand Kit Et Colle for the 20th anniversary of the Loire Valley’s inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

For the second edition, which took place from 22 to 26 November 2021, Mission Val de Loire and the federation of Maisons de Loire put on a week of educational activities for 8-12 year-olds (i.e. primary school and Year 7 classes - French CE2, CM1, CM2 and 6e). Around the construction of a cardboard scale model of a traditional Loire barge, this initiative aimed at improving understanding of what links people, the river and its landscapes. 478 schoolchildren were able to take part in these Loire discovery days.
