The Loire Valley’s inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List calls for coherent action on the part of all the public stakeholders involved to protect the Loire Valley’s landscapes. As guardian of the site’s integrity with regard to UNESCO, the French State has drawn up a management plan for the site’s boundaries in liaison with the local authorities concerned. This entails the drafting of an overall policy for protecting the most symbolic areas, which has led to the identification of 25 sites.
